Robert Brett Lunger (born November 14th, 1945 in Wilmington, Delaware) is a American former racing driver known for his appearances in Formula One. His early career was spent in the Can-Am, where he was considered one of the "rich kids" due to his wealth as an heir of the DuPont family. Eventually, his career lead him to Europe, where he took part in Formula Two to little success - which in turn lead to a short stint in F1.

1976-1977: Penske

Having made his Grand Prix debut the previous year, Lunger moved to the American Penske team - most famous for their appearances in American Championship races among other series stateside. Unfortunately for Lunger and teammate Hans-Joachim Stuck - the PC4 chassis was an absolute disaster and failed to qualify on numerous occasions in 1976. Lunger actually took the PC4's best result in 1976, with a ninth place at the Spanish Grand Prix.

1977 arrived and Lunger was still a part of the team - whom had opted to keep campaigning their dogged chassis for another season. Lunger was now partnered by occasional points scorer Henri Pescarolo but this would not be enough to turn the team's fortunes around. Halfway through the year, Lunger decided to cut his losses and leave the team - seeing him be replaced by 1976 German F3 champion Bertram Schäfer.
