The 1951 A1 Grand Prix Season will be the second season of the A1 Grand Prix series. Portugal, Guatemala and Chile will enter teams for the first time making a 36 car grid for the season. The season was marred by the death of East Germany's Edgar Barth during the German A1 Grand Prix.

Pre Season Test
The pre season test will be held at Silverstone to prepare new drivers and nations for the season ahead, and to let nations examine and analyse the performance of their repspective cars. All drivers that had been entered by their nations will take part with drivers from the same team sharing their car throughout the 90 minute session.

Penalty Points
Drivers receive points on their race licence if they are deemed by the stewards to be driving in an 'unsporting manner'. Points are usually given for causing avoidable collisions, pitlane infractions or impeding fastest cars while being lapped. If a driver collects 12 points throughout the season then they are given a three month ban from racing in the series. Points are reset to zero after each season. Fines can also be given.
