Qualifying
Once again, qualifying was a hotly contested affair. Simon Redman missed out on qualifying by only seven hundredths of a second, with Aurelien Moll, Giovanni Roda, and Hagane Shizuka following within three tenths of Redman. During the real qualifying session, Dave Simpson beat out Gary Cameron by only one hundredth of a second. The grid was then set for what looked to be an entertaining race.
Race
Disaster immediately struck at the first corner as David Koczo was spun by Daniel Melrose. Koczo was then hit by Frank Zimmer and Sammy Jones. Koczo and Zimmer were knocked out instantly, while Jones' car expired soon afterwards. Prior to the race, the track marshals decided to go on strike, leaving the F1RWRS Commission to hire replacements from the neighbouring areas. Thus, the three cars remained trapped on the first corner. On lap 4, Ashley Watkinson couldn't avoid Zimmer's stricken car and slammed into it, knocking out Watkinson. Phoenix McAllister was also collected and he got further then Jones did before he retired. Three laps later, T. Hemo Goblin spun out while attempting to avoid Watkinson's car.
Polesitter Dave Simpson was the next victim, slamming into Koczo's stopped Calinetic. A lap later, James Davies crashed into Simpson's Minardi, blocking most of the track. Somehow almost everyone passed through until lap 17, when Thomas De Bock tried to pass Luca Pacchiarini into the first corner. Lap 19 saw Darren Older Jr hit the barriers after a steering failure. Now, most drivers were trying to survive until the 75% classification rule which would come into effect on lap 23. On lap 22, Pippa Mann and Kay Lon collided, removing themselves from classification.
By now, Luca Pacchiarini had taken the lead, followed by the remaining survivors: Chris Dagnall, Douglas Mann, Gary Cameron, Daniel Melrose, Nathanael Spencer, and John Zimmer. Spencer proceeded to bin it at the same spot as Older Jr., leaving him unclassified and seven laps down. John Zimmer hit his brother's car, followed immediately by Daniel Melrose. Now, there were only four cars still running - Pacchiarini, Dagnall, Mann and Cameron, in that order. Then, on lap 30, Pacchiarini crashed in the turn 1 pileup, robbing him of victory. An extremely lucky Chris Dagnall took the victory, followed by Douglas Mann, Pacchiarini despite retiring, Cameron, John Zimmer and Daniel Melrose. Dagnall's win took him to second in the Drivers' Championship, tied with Simon Redman and ten points behind Spencer.
