Venturi V2-001 is the first ARWS car built by Venturi Formula. It was used in the 2018 season, finishing 8th in the WCC.
Background
The team came into the entry list in early to mid January, after the Commonwealth Group buyout of Sunshine Daihatsu fell through. Venturi then secured the powerful Yamaha engines, and contracts for both Shinobu Katayama and Jean-Vincent Albertini.
Design
The V2-001 is heavily based upon the 2016 Alitalia and 2017 Voeckler race-winning cars, due to the limit timespan to work with. However, in order to rectify the age of the cars, the car has some design tweaks, incluiding a revamped front wing.
The Season
The car perfomed in the upper-midfield, and it even scored a podium in the attrition-filled Norisring race. However, the car's main problem, which hampered many opportunities, was reliability. In only two races, Great Britain and Germany, the car suffered no problems, and the car was seen as hard to drive in high downforce circuits, with the rear end being loose many times. In the end, the team finished 8th with 7 points.
