Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item level upgrade's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item upgrader kit and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used.
