Toshio Maka (born 3rd May, 2002 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese racing driver currently driving in Anglo-Irish F4 for BORC, the team being financed by his father Satoru. The 2019 season was his debut in any motorsport category, having only previously competed in minor regional karting championships.

Career

2019 - Anglo-Irish F4

2019

The 2019 season was very much a mixed bag for Toshio, who was making his debut at his father's BORC team alongside fellow rookie Siobhán de Bhailéara, and ended up being generally outperformed by her, with the Irish driver scoring 10 of the team's 11 points finishes that year. The highlight of Maka's season however, his single points finish, was a decent consolation prize for the Japanese- having found the (previously absent) pace required to qualify a strong third for the second race at BORC Development UK's home circuit of Brands Hatch, he then went on to take a dominant win, much to the bewilderment of fellow drivers, paddock observers, commentators and even his own team! Alas, this form could not be replicated as the season went on and Maka finished the season 18th with those 15 points, four places and 34 points behind his teammate, although this was enough to secure a solid fourth place in the Rookie Cup, albeit only one point ahead of fifth-placed Harry Platten (and over fifty behind 3rd placed de Bhaileara)

2020-20?? - European Le Mans Series

For 2020, Maka would make his debut in endurance racing in a BORC-run ADESS-03R LMP3, the team also entering this discipline for the first time.
