Sofía de Haro

Sofia de Haro (born 13 April 1955, died 10 April 2021) was a Spanish driver that competed in the Formula 3, Formula 2 and the Dywa Grand Prix Series.

Career history

Formula Three

Sofia began her career in the Spanish junior leagues where she struggled to get up to speed, it wouldn't be until early 1975 where she got a breakthrough and would take out the title as she got an offer to compete in the 1976 European Formula 3 Championship for the Reception Carrot Team as one of the two Spanish drivers with Luis de Almenara being their team-mate. Competing in the later half of the season, de Haro would make an appearance at the Circuit de Croix-en-Ternois where they wouldn't qualify before retiring from 17th in the next round which was held in Germany.

The following season, de Haro competed in more races with most of the races that they competed at being west of Germany. In five appearances with the Ralt RT1, they would get a best performance of 11th at the Circuito del Jarama with the four other races also saw the Spanish driver finish in the top 20. By 1978, they would stay at the team with the driver getting their first point in Formula Three in Round 7 at Djion. Another lucky break in Donington Park, meant another sixth place finish and with Amada Castellón getting an injury in the Dywa round at Charade, they would make their debut appearance in the Dywa Grand Prix Series.
