Roger Ibe
Roger Ibe (born 13th November, 1998 in Vancouver, Canada) is a Canadian-born Filipino racing driver, currently driving in Formula One for Red Bull Racing. Ibe is nicknamed "Mr. Excitement" for his aggressive and entertaining driving style.
Early Career
Ibe first came to international prominence when he won a race at Suzuka in the 2016-17 Formula Nippon season - finishing the season in fifth. He then moved across to AutoReject 2.0 in 2017, where he became the first ever North American champion by winning seven races. Ibe graduated to AutoReject 3.5 in 2018 and took eight wins in the category over two seasons - his best finish being third overall in 2019. Ibe switched to the FIA ladder in 2020 to take part in Formula Two - in which he won the series in a closely fought battle with Italian driver Antonio Giovinazzi.
Formula One
2021-: Red Bull
In the winter of 2021, Ibe was announced as a Red Bull Racing driver on a one-year deal. Ibe impressed with some strong results in the early races of the season - with some pundits and journalists nicknaming him "Mr. Excitement" due to his flamboyant and gung-ho driving style. Ibe scored a maiden podium with a third place finish in the Cyprus Grand Prix and improved by one more with a second place later in the season at Île-de-France Grand Prix in Paris. Ibe finished his first season in F1 in tenth overall.
2022 saw Ibe stick with Red Bull in what was a very quick - if unreliable car. After a run of three straight retirements at the beginning of the season, Ibe won his first Formula One race at the Indian Grand Prix. Two rounds later, Ibe took a second career win with victory in the Cyprus Grand Prix. Ibe took a third win of the season in the Île-de-France Grand Prix, which saw him finish the season in third overall in the World Driver's Championship.
