The rFactor Alternate CART refers to Marcus Kun's operation of CART during the 2002 season.

History

In 2001, CART was in a dwindling situation after the farce that was Firestone Firehawk 600. Looking for a buyer to rescue the series, Marcus Kun and his company purchased the series in late 2001, taking over the control of the series.

The series was a success, with Oriol Servia winning the driver's championship with a fierce fight against Frederic-Maxime Voeckler and Buddy Rice, but the international expansion to France (Le Mans) and Japan (High Speed Ring) added the financial burden for Kun Group, which managed the series' commercial affairs. It was later sold for the following season.
