Formula One

1977: Iberia Airlines

Rosberg's first opportunity in Formula One machinery came at the 1977 Trofeo Dino Ferrari where he drove a non-works McLaren M23 for the Iberian Airlines team alongside team boss Emilio di Villota. He finished the race in eighth place, impressing several teams in the process.

1978: Arrows

Rosberg made his World Championship debut in 1978 for the Warsteiner Arrows Racing Team alongside Italian Gianfranco Brancatelli. Rosberg performed reasonably well in his first season but made a real statement when he took an impressive victory in the Tony Brise Memorial Trophy.

1979: Ferrari

After his impressive albeit fruitless 1978 campaign, Rosberg was signed by Scuderia Ferrari to partner the defending champion Mario Andretti after Gilles Villeneuve and Jody Scheckter left the team in protest of Andretti's signing.

WTCM

Having effectively been retired for a few years, Rosberg accepted an offer from the works Toyota team Union Saver Developments in the World Touring Car Masters series. His first season in the category went well and he finished the year second in Class B behind teammate David Leslie.

Rosberg remained with Toyota in 1990.
