John-Paul Casciaro
John-Paul Casciaro (born 9th May, 2003 in Gibraltar) is a Gibraltarian racing driver who is currently a young driver for the Theodore Racing Team, racing in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship for the Prema-Status Superteam.
Racing Career
As a Gibraltarian, much of Casciaro's early racing experience was gained in Spain. Casciaro travelled as far as Aragon and Catalonia to compete in karting events gaining a lot of success. He won several cups and championships at youth level and came third in the Spanish National Championship in 2017.
His first season in car racing was highly successful, taking four wins on the way to second overall in the 2018 Anglo-Irish Formula 4 with the MK Scuderia team. He also took part in the FIA Formula 4 World Final, finishing in second place overall. This result allowed Casciaro to receive his FIA Super Licence.
He stepped up to Formula 3 in 2019 with the Hong Kong-based Theodore Racing Team. Despite his pace at F4 level, Casciaro struggled with F3 in his initial forays - causing him to suffer in terms of confidence.
Following the announcement that the Eurasian Championship would be splitting into European and Asian series from 2020, Theodore announced they would be moving to the Asian series - potentially leaving Casciaro out in the cold. However, it was quickly announced that Casciaro would remain a part of the Theodore heirarchy - racing for the newly formed Prema-Status Superteam in the European series for 2020, with support from Theodore Racing. Casciaro took a single win in the series in 2020 at Zandvoort, enough for ninth overall.
Following the collapse of the Theodore F1 effort at the end of 2020, Casciaro was signed by the Red Bull Junior Team.
