Georges Mignolet
Georges Mignolet is a racing driver from Belgium.
Born in a family of bakers in Sint-Truiden in 1891, Belgium. After his marriage, he moved to Tongeren, and set up a delivery service for local bakeries. This company eventually grew into the big Mignolet transport company.
Thankfully his company survived the great war mostly intact, and he was able to capitalise on this, becoming one of the richest families in his city. His newfound rich lifestyle triggered the passion for fast cars, becoming a big fan of Bugatti, Delahaye and Delage and occasionally racing them in rallies. Though never winning a significant race, he proved to be have very good mechanical sympathy and understanding. This led to Delage hiring him as a development driver for the inaugural 1923 Grand Prix Championship, participating in the Belgian Grand Prix in Belgium, unfortunately retiring, not being able to make a big impression amongst the world class drivers.
He was known as a true gentleman, became the father of 2 sons and 4 daughters, and died while racing. His grandchildren became succesful drivers on their own right, most notably Ron Mignolet.
