Bill Phenett (Born 29 February 1981 in Castel, Guernsey) is a racing driver from Guernsey, known for his career in the British Touring Car Championship and the British GT Championship. He made his RWRS debut in 2016 in the RTCC. He is sometimes nicknamed Bully Boy Bill for his aggresive style of driving.

Career

BTCC/British GT

After taking off Colin Turkington in the last round of the Ford Fiesta championship of 2001 he won the title earning him a drive in the British Touring Car Championship with the works Proton team. He proved to be a quick but somewhat wreckless driver as demonstrated when he was banned after the Oulton Park round for putting James Thompson into the wall while being lapped. Despite winning 2 races he was only 2 points ahead of his winless teammate David Leslie.

2003 was much more consistent with regular podiums, though he could still not match the all-conquering Vauxhalls which he complained all year about.

Phenett spent the next 8 seasons in British GT, winning the title in '05, '07 and '11. Although in 2012 he made a BTCC comeback, replacing Will Bratt who had food poisoning, he took a shock victory in race 1, though not without controversy as he punted Andrew Jordan out of the way in a move that ultimately cost Jordan the Independants' Trophy. The joy was shortlived however as he was involved in a 3 car pile-up in race 2 which was triggered by Andy Neate. He then found Neate after the race and punched him in the face.

RTCC

After 3 unsuccessful seasons in the WEC, he made his fulltime touring car comeback in 2016 with The Crusaders driving a works Renault Laguna in the Rejects Touring Car Championship. He left the team after 3 rounds for undisclosed reasons.
