Bertram Schäfer (born 18th March, 1946 in Bitburg, Germany) is a German former racing driver known for his appearances in Formula One.

After winning the 1976 German F3 championship, Schäfer joined Team Penske midway through the 1977 F1 season replacing Brett Lunger alongside French veteran Henri Pescarolo. Schäfer would immediately lift Penske's spirits, venturing into the top half of the Pre-Qualifying timesheets. This pace would be rewarded at the Soviet Grand Prix, where Penske advanced from Pre-Qualifying for the first time in 1977. Schäfer would qualify for the race and go on to take Penske's first finish of the season at the Soviet Grand Prix with a 14th place finish. Schäfer would also manage to finish in Canada with a 19th place.

Initially, Schäfer was set to keep his drive with Penske for the 1978 season, but after the sale of Penske to Arrows Schäfer found himself out of a World Championship drive. He would go on to make the move to the inaugural season of the British Formula One series with the RAM Racing squad.

Following his retirement from racing, Schäfer set up his own racing team that raced successfully in German single seater championships until the early 2000s.
