The 2011 F1RWRS German Grand Prix was the second race of the 2011 Formula 1 Rejects World Race Series season. The race was held at Hockenheim and it was won by Nathanael Spencer driving for Prospec.

Race Report

Qualifying

For the second year running, rain arrived at Hockenheim. After pre-qualifying, Douglas Mann, John Zimmer, Thomas De Bock (who had just finished second in the previous race) and Sammy Jones all failed to qualify. During qualifying proper, David Koczo put his Prospec on pole, sharing the spot with teammate Nathanael Spencer. Pippa Mann put in an impressive performance for Anglo-Manx Racing, qualifying third, the best of the new teams. Hagane Shizuka, Chris Dagnall and Luca Pacchiarini all made their first starts of the season.

Race

At the start, Pippa got away well and managed to split the two Prospecs, taking the lead at the end of the first lap. Spencer lost out and fell to sixth. Frank Zimmer then passed Koczo for second position, which he proceeded to lose a lap later. On Lap 4, Pippa Mann was passed by Koczo. James Davies became the first driver to make a stop and Dave Simpson lost control of his car and spun in the rain.

On Lap 9, Spencer made his pit stop, leaving him in last place. Zimmer led, having passed both Mann and Koczo, but by now, it became clear that the early pitters once again held the advantage. James Davies assumed the lead on Lap 13 and led for four more laps. Spencer passed Simon Redman on Lap 17, leaving him in second.

Spencer was clearly going faster and he breezed by Davies on Lap 18. Davies was forced to pit again, elevating Redman to second and Phoenix McAllister to third. Pippa Mann was fourth and Koczo ran in fifth. The only changes in the top five for the remainder of the race were that Koczo passed Mann and that Redman pitted again on Lap 29, dropping him to fourth. After a mildy entertaining start, the race became a snoozefest as it was clear that Spencer was going to win from Lap 17 onwards. The rain made viewing difficult, and that certainly contributed to the boredom.

James Davies passed T. Hemo Goblin on the last lap, giving Davies sixth and Goblin seventh. Gary Cameron rounded out the points-paying positions in eighth.
