Klien was racing karts in Austria and Switzerland from a young age, alongside her cousin Christian. While Christian graduated from karts to Formula BMW, Formula 3, and, eventually, Formula One, Verna was not picked up to run in a higher-class series.

Verna Freida Klien (born 4 Sept 1995 in Vienna) is an Austrian racing driver currently contracted to Peak Driver Talent, the driver management arm of the Peak Motorsport Group. She currently competes for Clockwork Racing in the 2017 AutoReject 3.5 season.

Klien has gained a reputation that she will drive any car in any series, no matter how bad the team and/or car is. Klien was reportedly being considered for a drive at Dofasco before the team collapsed half-way through the 2016 season.

Career

Klien entered the Austrian, Swiss, and German karting series in her younger years. It was in Switzerland that she competed against Alvin Ziegler and was noticed by then-team principal of Peak, Dominic Spearman.
