In reality, the team - Brown Racing Enterprises - was set up in order for several British and Eastern European engineers and drivers (including Team Principal Donald Brown, Nahorski and Dumitrescu) to defect to the Soviet Union. After the pair qualified for the race - the team's loaned equipment was found abandoned in the paddock on the Sunday morning with news that all personnel had defected. Little was heard of Nahorski after the defection although it is believed he was killed in a rally event in the Soviet Union in the late 1950s.

Nahorski was a six-time Polish rally champion, but was killed in a fiery accident during the 1959 Adriatic Rally along with his co-driver Jan Langer. He was 49.

Michał Edward Nahorski (born 11 September 1909 in St. Petersburg, Russia, died 22 July 1959 in Chęciny) was a Polish, later Soviet racing driver.
