John Surtees (born 11th February, 1934 in Tatsfield, Surrey, England, died 10th March, 2017 in London, England) was a British former racing driver. Surtees was accomplished on both motorcycles and in cars - having won the Motorcycle World Championship in 1956 before his switch into Formula One in 1958.

Formula One

Surtees made his Formula One debut in 1958 with the B.C.M.A. team. Surtees' first entry would be at the Monaco Grand Prix, but he'd fail to qualify for the race. His first start would come one race later in France, a race in which he unexpectedly took the chequered flag.
