Career

F1 Rejects Grand Prix 2 Championship

Nicchi accepted a testing role at the Gauthier team for 1998 after some impressive performances in F3000. In his first test driving the GF1.01, he was 3 tenths slower than the team's regular driver Frédéric-Maxime Voeckler.

He would make his race debut at round 8 in the British Grand Prix replacing Voeckler who had moved to Williams. He qualified 25th out 26 cars, over 4 seconds away from the pole position time, but nearly half a second ahead of teammate Johan Gustaffson who failed to qualify. The race featured heavy rainfall and many cars retired, Nicchi however, kept his car on track and fended off Clivio Durand's Prost to shock the F1RGP2C world with a 6th place finish. It was Gauthier's first point in the series. Amazingly he managed to score another point at Belgium after benifiting from a late retirement from John Zimmer.

GT-Rejects World Championship
