The 1993 Italian Formula One Championship was the sixth season of the of Italian Formula One Championship. Reigning Drivers Champion Pierluigi Martini would depart Scuderia Italia, eventually returning to Minardi after they chose to part ways with Fabrizio Barbazza mid-season. In an effort to reclaim both titles after a disastrous 1992, Ferrari retained Jean Alesi but paired him with 1988 Drivers Champion Gerhard Berger. The pair were up against reduced competition, however, as both Fondmetal and Andrea Moda had failed to complete the previous season, and Venturi did not return for 1993. This left a field of only three full-time teams, which was something of a concern for the future of the Championship. In total, it was contested by nine drivers representing four constructors.

Calendar
As usual, the calendar would contain the four core events of the San Marino, Monaco and Italian Grands Prix, in addition to the Indoor Trophy. On this occasion, the two additional events selected to complete the calendar were the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring.
Championship Standings
Championship points are awarded to the top four cars at each event. Constructors earn the points for their best car at any given event.
