The 2019 Airbnb IndyCar Series season will be the 22nd season of the IndyCar Series, and the 106th recognized season of top-level American open wheel racing. After attracting investment from former shareholders and new business partners, the IndyCar name will return to top-level American motorsport following a two-year hiatus.
A number of teams who raced in the IndyCar Series prior to the 2017-18 gap in competition made returns to the championship along with former F1RICS outfit Cassidy Racing. Resuming its technical partnership with Dallara, the DW12 chassis used from 2012 to 2016 was revised ready for 2019. Chevrolet and Honda will also provide engines once again, and will be joined by Mazda who provide a third option.
