The kostasgate scandal

It all started when the race results were unrealistic, and the lancia boss complained about Nicola Larini not getting any points. They eventually declared to quite DTM at the end of 2000. As a result, Fischkopf motorsports protested against lancia, by not allowing any of their staff near their cars, and after a swift ban from Lancia in round 7, I decided to ban Fischkopf for the remainder of 2000, but they were able to return on the condition that they can find a new car supplier.

Afterwards, the Jaguar's boss convinced me to be nicer, I went to work trying to figure out the problems.

As a consequence, the stats were then recalculated according to the driver's original salary split into thirds and then using the ferrarist's indycar formula and the race distances were shortened to 150KM. But neither of these issues was the real problem. Instead, it's was a rather simple looking pre-race method that I forgot to do, sorting out the group according to the qualifying results.

Eventually, everything got fixed in time for rounds 9 of the season. but before the final round of the season was run, kostas declared Brandrill to be a mortal enemy of Lancia, and when the final round came, he got his wish. Timo Scheider won the race, and 10 points and karthikeyan did managed to finish the two points to force a tiebreak for the driver's championship. In the end, Timo did won the tie break for 2nd place finishes, with Timo finishing 2nd 3 times versus karthikeyan's 1. Furthermore, Brandrill missed out on the team's title by 7 points

The aftermath of this scandal was changing the points system from the pre-2003 F1 system to the 2003-2009 F1 system for 2001. In addition, extending the prize money to the top 10 finishers according to the current F1 system for the 2001 season was also implemented. But the most important thing to came out of this was that The Fighting Mongooses withdrew from DTM and replacing them was a brand new team Kissling Motorsport run by the former commish, Ferrarist for the 2001 season.
