Born into a wealthy family, Taraschi was a notable motorcycle road racer in the Abruzzo and Marche regions of Italy in the pre-war years. Taraschi stopped racing due to the outbreak of the war and served in the Italian military as a motorcycle scout, serving on the Russian front. After the war ended, Taraschi took part in what was considered the first motorsport event in post-war Europe by coming second in a motorcycle race at Tortoreto Circuit in August 1945.
