After his Formula One career ended, Fontana raced Formula Nippon and JGTC for a number of years before returning back to Argentina in the mid-2000s to compete in domestic touring car series. In the 2010s, Fontana turned his hand to rally raid and became a regular competitor in the Dakar Rally.

Norberto Edgardo Fontana (born 20th January, 1975 in Arrecifes, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine racing driver best known for his appearances in Formula One.

Formula One

In 1998, Fontana signed for the Fondmetal Minardi team racing alongside Nicola Larini. The Minardi was well off the pace all season and Fontana was only able to score a single point, coming home with a sixth in the deluge of the Belgian Grand Prix.

Fontana was not retained for 1999.

Later Career

After his Formula One career ended, Fontana raced Formula Nippon and JGTC for a number of years before returning back to Argentina in the mid-2000s to compete in domestic touring car series. In the 2010s, Fontana turned his hand to rally raid and became a regular competitor in the Dakar Rally.
