Salvatore Miccoli is a racing driver from Pescara, Italy, who currently races for Lavezzi IBR in the Rejects of LFS series.
Biography
Early Life and Career
Miccoli was born in the southern port town of Pescara, Italy, to a fisherman father and housewife mother. His upbringing was a relatively simple one, but was already a tifosi from a very early age, captivated by the speed of Formula 1 from his television. His family then emigrated to America when he was just six years old.
Without the money to back him, he did not pursue his motor racing dreams, but at 17 entered the 2011 rFactor2 IBR Challenge, a competition styled similarly to GT Academy, where one console racer gets the opportunity to race in a real series.
From there, he was entered into the 2012 Skip Barber National Championship, coming 2nd overall in his debut year, and moving on to the Pro Mazda Championship in 2013, winning the title a year later.
F1RICS
In 2015, he moved up to the F1 Rejects Indy Championship Series with MasterCard Lola, as their fourth driver. In what was expected to be a development year, learning from veteran team-mates Roberto Moreno and Vincenzo Sospiri, he instead took the championship by storm, winning three races on his way to the title in his debut season.
IFRC
Having been included in Italy's Nations Cup squad in the 2015 post-season, and beating such racing luminaries as Sebastian Vettel in head-to-head competition on road courses, Miccoli found new ambition to make it to the pinaccle of single seater racing in F1RWRS. As a result, he joined IBR's IFRC squad, and was immediately on the pace, setting the fastest time in every pre-season test.
