Report:

Getting lapped by his teammate was the last miserable act of a terrible GP for Lewis Hamilton.

One year without a Formula One race on the illuminated streets of Singapore was clearly one year too many, as we are blessed with the return of the ING Singaporean Grands Prix and it became obvious that this event is as glorious as it used to be.

Qualifying was a close affair without the usual Precision-Caterham monopoly on the first two rows: Nathan McKane was able to launch himself ahead of Lewis Hamilton and guest driver Romain Grosjean to start the race in third place for Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton is not someone who gets too anxious, but perhaps he should have seen the embarrasment he suffered beginning at 23:00 local time coming because of his unsuccessful Q3: he struggled to achieve top pace and spins hurt him badly.

His German enemy/teammate, Sebastian Vettel, was able to use this to extend his lead in the championship, winning this race, which has earned a place in the history books for being the first race in the two-race era to see all starters finish the race.
