Kvyat Betrays Vettel, Caterham

Ferrari have officially not given up on winning either world title this season: with a healthy upgrade coming for the Red Bull Ring, they hope they can take the war to Caterham and Judd, denying Sebastian Vettel and his British team the titles they are in a good position to win. Today, they did a perfect job, Nathan McKane had full control from lap 1 to lap 48 and Bourdais did his job, coming second to complete the Ferrari 1-2.

However, it must be noted Ferrari had two helpers on their way: first Jules Bianchi took care of the competition, blocking everyone so McKane was able to escape and then the tragic end of a streak occured, as Daniil Kvyat turned into his faster teammate to prevent him from getting past, causing terminal damage to the CT05 of the world championship leader. After 20 consecutive points finishes, Vettel will have to start at 0 in tomorrow’s race.

Karma struck for both of Ferrari’s helpers, the upper midfield punished them for their actions: Stoffel Vandoorne and Pastor Maldonado continued the battle of Haas and Sauber, this time with a better end for the American team: Stoffel Vandoorne took another podium for the American dream team, giving the Ferrari engine department a 1-2-3. Bianchi and Daniil also were beaten by Esteban Ocon, who scores his first F1 points in 5th.

Daniel Ricciardo seems to have finally taken control at Mahindra, he puts another four points on the plate, kicking Daly in the metaphorical nuts. A good run was going on for Valerian, Sergio Pérez was happy to have his car back and wanted to score points in front of his own people. However, just like in Vettel’s case, the enemy was within: Davide Valsecchi managed to beat Pérez for 10th during the pitstops.
