Report:

Pastor Maldonado, shown here overtaking Kevin Magnussen, was one of the many drivers enjoying success in this Grand Prix.

What a difference a day makes: the rain that plagued yesterday’s event went away and the sun shined on the Siberian asphalt. Who would be able to prevail, now that the weather would not be able to hurt or help the chances of the 26 drivers?

Lewis Hamilton continued his domination of the weekend by taking the sole lead in the pole position trophy. However, at the start, a mighty challenger appeared as Jules Bianchi was able to keep up with the Brit until a pitstop mistake by the Precision team put an end to that.

Speaking of mistakes by Precision-Mercedes, Dave Cassidy was awful. He ran into Salvatore Miccoli and fell down the order as a result, where he had an accident with André Lotterer that ended with him getting a five-second race time penalty.

Other drivers did better, Nathan McKane ran well, getting eight points for Ferrari. Both DGN drivers got a couple of points for their team, putting Pastor Maldonado in their sandwich. The passionate Russian crowd was way more pleased by Artem Markelov’s ninth place.
