After the 1955 Le Mans disaster, motorsport was banned in Switzerland, making the 1954 edition the last Grand Prix held on Swiss soil. The Swiss Grand Prix would be revived for the 1978 season, except it would be held at the Dijon-Prenois circuit in France as the Swiss ban still stood.
