Ron Mignolet (Born November 3rd, 1976 in Tongeren, Belgium) is a Belgian open-wheeler racing driver. He is well known for his considerable racing skills, though probably more known for being a party-animal and teen idol.

Early career

Ron started his career In 1994, driving a Renault Clio in the Belgian pro-car championship, partnered to his older brother Dennis Mignolet. He won his class several times, but it was only until 1997, when he drove a Renault Megane in the same championship, that people would take notice. He also drove some rallies, also in a Renault Clio. At the end of 1997, he managed to get a drive in the french F3 championship and impressed with a victory in his first race. This lead to a full-time campaign in 1998, where he was leading the championship, when an opportunity in F1 arose. He eventually finished third.

Formula One

Mignolet's impressive results in F3 didn't go unnoticed by the French Prost outfit, who were looking for a replacement for their injured lead driver Jeroen Krautmeir. Prost decided to give both Mignolet and other belgian driver Aurelien Moll two races. Mignolet had better results than Moll, and thus got to drive the rest of the season. After impressing by being the fastest Prost-driver in these races, a deal was made to be full-time driver for the Prost outfit in the 1999 season. Despite that the F1 Challenge Championship, Ron had a decent season.

In between Formula One and F1RWRS

Mignolet continued driving in touring cars occasionaly, and won the 24hours of Spa in 1998 and 1999. He also occasionaly drove in rally, without notable succes. There were also rumours of entering different racing series for Team Lotus Bakeries, led by his older brother Dennis Mignolet, but none of these plans materialized.

F1RWRS

After years of succes,in 2013 Ron's management decided that it was time to enter the ultimate racing series: the F1RWRS. However it soon appeared that some budget was necessairy. Mignolet had to sit out the first seven rounds of the season without a drive, but could then secure a drive with Red Bull Team Phoenix Audi. His results were decent, and he was more often than not faster than his team-mate and team-boss Phoenix McAllister. Frustrated by McAllisters lack of pace, which made it nearly impossible for the Phoenix team to qualify, Mignolet has critised McAllister openly in the Press. This led to McAllister firing Mignolet for the 2014 season.

2014

Ron Mignolet has secured a deal with Acuri to drive in the F1RWRS in the 2014 season.
