Marcel Balsa
Marcel Lucien Balsa (born 1 January 1909 in Saint-Frion, died 11 August 1984 in Maisons-Alfort) was a French racing driver. Starting his racing career at the end of World War II, Balsa established himself as one of France's foremost Formula 2 drivers as well as a decent sportscar driver. His successes in France and Germany prompted Maserati, in desperate search of competent drivers at this point in time, hired Balsa as a part-time driver in 1952 and 1953. He was entered for three Grands Prix, but failed to make the start in what was a difficult period for the team. After 1953, Balsa's career declined, although he continued to race until 1964.
