Johnny Herbert (25 June 1964 – 1 May 1994) was a British racing driver best known for his appearances in Formula One and International Formula 3000. He was killed at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix after a racing accident sustained after hitting the wall at the high-speed Tamburello corner in his Williams-Renault.
After a fairly successful stint in Formula 3000 between 1988 and 1990, Herbert became the test driver for Lotus Formula One team in 1991, making his race debut the following year. After a rather mediocre showing, the team let him go in the off-season. Herbert wouldn't be unemployed for long, however, as he would sign with French outfit Larrousse for 1993.
