The Lupo GTI Championship is a single-make racing series using the Volkswagen Lupo GTI. In mid 2015, a little group of german investors contacted Volkswagen Racing. The investors wanted to buy 20 Volkswagen Polo formerly used in the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup. The racing department of the german brand quickly refused but made a new deal. 20 unsold Lupo GTI and a stock of spare parts for a modest amount of money. A phone call later, the deal was concluded.
The series is a support to the Rejects Touring Car Championship.
