Creation
The Lupo GTI Championship (often called Lupo Cup) is a single-make racing series using the Volkswagen Lupo GTI. In mid 2015, a little group of german investors contacted Volkswagen Racing. The investors wanted to buy 20 Volkswagen Polo formerly used in the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup. The racing department of the german brand quickly refused but made a new deal. 20 unsold Lupo GTI and a stock of spare parts for a modest amount of money. A phone call later, the deal was concluded.
The series is a support to the Rejects Touring Car Championship.
Qualifying and Race format
Qualifying sessions last 60 minutes and each race last 30 minutes. The same format is used for the German Special Heats and Finale. For this special final round, the grid will be divided into two heats of 10 cars. The top 4 of each heat advances to the Finale.

The 2003-2009 Formula One system (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1) is used. An additional point is awarded for the Pole position and another for the fastest race lap.
