== Origins ==
K-Apex began life in 2009 as a sim-racing team, participating in national events before moving onto regional championships in 2012. They reached their peak in 2017, claiming titles in the Shenzhen, Seoul & Tokyo iRacing LAN-Prix as well as a 3rd place in the Polyphony Digital Fukuoka Invitational, a showcase for the then newly-released Gran Turismo Sport. It was in the latter two events that a young [[Kwon Sung-Tae]] shot to prominence, showing remarkable racecraft for his age, thus inspiring his father Kwon Ki-Hyon to bring the team from the world of eSports to real motorsport.
After several years of entering series at a national level, K-Apex made the jump to the international stage in 2019, competing in both the [[FIA Formula 3 Eurasian Championship|Eurasian F3]] and [[Asian Formula 4 Championship|Asian F4]] series. The outfit struggled in the former, achieving only a single points finish courtesy of Italian signing [[Luca Bandini]] on the streets of Pau. They were much more comfortable closer to home, with Kwon Sung-tae claiming that year's Asian F4 title.
After Eurasian F3's division into [[FIA Formula 3 European Championship|European]] and [[FIA Formula 3 Asian Championship|Asian]] series in 2020, they opted for the latter, but were a distant 2nd in both teams' and drivers' championships to Jagonya Ayam Racing and Oscar Piastri respectively. Their highlight of the season was undoubtedly a 1-2 finish on home soil in the streets of Changwon, with Kwon followed by teammate Song Ki-Hyun.
2021 was much more successful, as they claimed both titles in Asian F3.
