The Formula One Soviet Grand Prix was a race on the Formula One calendar during the existence of the Soviet Union. The race was first held in 1955 on the Pirita-Kose-Kloostrimetsa Circuit, but would not be held again for some time due to allegations of defecting occuring during the weekend. For the 1976 season, the race would move to the Bikernieki Circuit near Riga in what is now Latvia. The race would again be marred, this time by tragedy, as Niki Lauda tragically perished in an accident. The race would return for the 1977 season, before eventually being dropped. The race would return for 1988 season, again held at Bikernieki, alongside the Yugoslav Grand Prix.
