Drivers and teams
Mid-season changes
There were a number of changes to driving personnel over the course of the year, as teams aggressively chased good results.
- David Coulthard replaced Shinji Nakano at Prost, after the Japanese driver failed to score in what appeared to be a good car.
- Arrows have adopted a revolving-door policy in their first driver seat, as Mika Salo made way for Jacques Villeneuve at Canada, and will move aside for Mark Blundell and Jörg Müller in the British and German Grands Prix respectively.
- After agreement with Arrows, Mika Salo will replace Pedro Lamy at Lola at Silverstone and Hockenheim.
