Silvio Bachot (born 25th December 1952 in Metz, Grand Est, France) is a French former racing driver who competed under a Belgian licence best known for his appearances in Formula One. After 2 seperate European Formula Two stints (in 1970-1972 and in 1976-1977), in which he gained a reputation for being an excellent qualifier and a very aggressive driver, although he had tendencies to randomly alternate his pace in races and was notorious for having large accidents, he was initially signed by the financially troubled Shadow Racing Team for an F1 seat in 1978, with him also driving for North Star Racing at the Belgian Grand Prix, where Shadow were not participating and North Star's existing driver Anton Roche was already contracted to Ligier for that race. He raced under a Belgian license due to the FFSA giving him a permanent ban from competing with a French one due to participating at the 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans race underage, being just 17 years old, and then causing a large pileup during the race, killing a fellow driver, which was enough for them to ban him. He later founded both the Bachot Grand Prix and the GB Racing teams.
