Pierre Levegh

Pierre Eugène Alfred Bouillin (born 22 December 1905 in Paris, died 11 June 1955 in Le Mans) was a French racing driver who competed in Formula 1 from 1950 to 1951 under the name Pierre Levegh (pronounced Le-VECK). He attempted to enter a race twice, first in 1950 with Motorsport Bleu in the 1950 French Grand Prix, but failed to qualify. He attempted to enter again in the 1951 Monaco Grand Prix, again with Motorsport Bleu, and failed to qualify. He also attempted to enter the 1955 Rouen Grand Prix with the spec HWM-Alta, but failed to qualify. He died sadly when his car crashed in the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans, killing 83 spectators, in the worst accident in motorsport history.
