Mauro Baldi (born January 31, 1954 in Reggio Emilia, Italy) is an Italian former racing driver known for his appearances in Formula One and World Touring Car Masters.

WTCM

Baldi became one of the first drivers to commit to the brand new World Touring Car Masters in 1988, entering an independent BMW M3 for the Euromotor International team alongside Swiss driver Mario Hytten. Despite only winning a single race in 1988, Baldi's consistency saw him finish a distant second in the C Class to Mercedes' Roland Asch - beating all of the works BMW drivers.

His performances earned him a drive with Mercedes the following year, with Asch moving to the works Nissan team. Baldi would not fare quite as well in this year, with the BMW seemingly equal to the Mercedes in 1989 - meaning the competition was more evenly spread in their class. Baldi would finish the season in fifth in class, the second best of the Mercedes.

Baldi returned for a second season with Mercedes in 1990. Mercedes were well and truly dominated by the works BMW team in 1990, with Baldi the best performing Mercedes-Benz driver finishing the year fifth in class with a single win.

A rule change in 1991 saw Baldi make a move across the works Mitsubishi alongside fellow Italian Roberto Ravaglia. Unfortunately, Baldi's season would end at the second round in Japan when a brake failure saw him suffer a leg break - ruling him out for the rest of 1991.
