Luciano Pucci Burti (born 5th March, 1975, in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian racing driver known for his brief stint in Formula One.

Career

Formula One

Burti would enter F1 during the 2000 pre-season, where he'd test for Stewart ahead of the British team's re-branding to Jaguar. Burti and fellow tester Tomas Scheckter would impress and as such were signed as reserve drivers alongside Jan Magnussen.

Midway through the 2000 season, Burti would be unexpectedly called upon to replace Eddie Irvine at the Austrian Grand Prix - whom had been struck down with a bout of appendicitis. Both Burti and teammate Dario Franchitti would retire from the race.

Following the departure of Franchitti ahead of the 2001 season, Burti was a leading candidate to take up a race seat with Jaguar but the team would opt for Ferrari refugee Pedro de la Rosa. Burti remained as test driver for another season before leaving the team at the end of 2001.

Later career

Following his departure from the F1 paddock, Burti returned to Brazil where he starred in the National Stock Car championships. He also became a commentator on F1 coverage for Brazilian TV.
