1976-: Various teams

By 1976, Pescarolo had joined (at least for a part season) the new Ligier team alongside Jacques Laffite, meaning they would have an all-French lineup in four rounds. Pescarolo's best score of the season was a fifth place in Monaco - a result he'd match at the Italian Grand Prix later in the year whilst at Ensign - however he'd finish in second position on the road at the French Grand Prix behind Laffite. Pescarolo would be disqualified from the race after a collision with the Brabham of Lella Lombardi - where he would forcibly remove Lombardi from the track whilst lapping her - causing her to lose both her front and rear right wheels.

The following season, Pescarolo would be offered a full season deal with the ailing Penske outfit, firstly driving alongside Brett Lunger before he was replaced by Bertram Schäfer. Pescarolo and Penske would struggle all year, with the team rarely making it out of pre-qualifying.

Pescarolo returned to Ligier for a part season in 1978, taking a 14th place on his first race back at Monaco.
