Gilberte Thirion

Gilberte Thirion (born January 8th, 1928 in Brussels, died May 21st, 2008 in Uccles, Belgium) was a Belgian racing driver known for her appearances in Formula One.

The daughter of famous period race and rally driver Max Thirion, Gilberte began racing on road rallies in the early 1950s. By the mid-1950s, Thirion had moved into circuit racing and made her F1 debut in 1956. Initially she entered with the Automobiles Deustch et Bonnet team but she soon moved to the more competitive Escuderia Hernandez outfit - with whom she returned with in 1957.

After her short jaunt in Formula One, Thirion moved into sportscars where she remained until the late 1960s.
