1998, 2000: Benetton-Arrows

By 1998, Wurz was racing for the Benetton Arrows team alongside Giancarlo Fisichella. Wurz managed two points scores - his best being a fifth in the Spanish Grand Prix before he was replaced by Rubens Barrichello after the British Grand Prix.

Wurz and Fisichella were reunited two years later when they were both resigned by Arrows in 2000. Wurz was a regular points scorer in this season, even managing a career-best second place finish in the European Grand Prix. Wurz finished the season in seventh place overall and was on the radar of several big teams for 2001.

2001-2006: McLaren

Wurz was courted by a number of teams in the run up to 2001 season, but it was a testing/reserve role with McLaren that appealed to the Austrian most - especially with retirement on the horizon for Mika Häkkinen. Despite the Finn's retirement in 2002, Wurz was overlooked repeatedly.

Wurz's McLaren move finally turned into a race drive in 2004 but the 2004 package did not suit him and as a result he rarely scored points. Wurz returned to the reserve role in 2005 and 2006 before retiring from Formula One.
