The 2021 Global Rally Series will be the forty-eighth season of the Global Rally Series, an auto racing championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) the R2 junior and Rally GT seasons are due to return this season for the first time since 2018 but are subject to approval.

The season featured custom as well as real life rally drivers for the first time since the regulation changes to the sport in 2016.

Driver/Manufacturer Changes

  • Flag of France svg.png World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier will return to the series for the first time since an original stint from 2005-2012, it isnt known which manufacturer he will drive for.
  • Flag of France svg.png World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb will drive in the series for the first time after being persuaded to join the Citreon team.
  • Flag of the United States svg.png Ken Block will return after a stint in 2011-2015 and is due to return with Ford, replacing British driver Shane Wray
  • Flag of the United Kingdom svg.png Shane Wray will move away from Ford and move to another manufacturer (likely Peugeot.)

Calendar

The championship is due to be contested over fourteen rounds, the biggest calendar since the regulation changes in 2017, this was done to make the GRS expand more and make it more "legit" in the eyes of the fans and the FIA who wanted to expand the series.
