The 1992 Italian Formula One Championship was the fifth season of the of Italian Formula One Championship. Reigning Champions Ferrari would be without their double Drivers Champion Alain Prost, who had left the team after a falling-out at the end of the 1991 season. He would be replaced by the promising Ivan Capelli, though the team would be ultimately powerless to defend their titles as a result of truly dreadful reliability. As a result, this would be the second and final season won by an Italian driver, and by a non-Ferrari driver. Equally notable is that the Monaco Grand Prix and F1 Indoor Trophy would both be won by different non-Italian constructors. The season would see sixteen drivers compete for seven different teams.
