Michel "Mike" Boullier (born 17th September, 1971 in Bordeaux, France) is a French former racing driver and politician, elected as President of France in 2017.
Motorsport Career
Boullier spent 1990 and 1991 predominantly racing in French Formula Three, while also picking up occasional drives in Life Grand Prix and Formula 3000. He would later graduate to Formula One with Oreca. His Life Grand Prix series call-up came when L. O. T. U. S. driver Cave Armstrong suffered leg fractures in a severe collision with Dimitry Vitkin. Later in the year, the tables would turn when Boullier was again called up to a senior series, this time to replace Neil McEwan, who was banned for his part in a serious collision with Ukyo Katayama.
Politics
Hailed as the "outsider candidate" in the 2017 French Presidential Election with his newly-created party Le Moteur!, Boullier shocked the political establishment by taking a decisive victory. This made him the second former racing driver to be elected as a European head of government after Silvio Bachot in Belgium.
