Daniela Anger
Daniela Anger (b. 5th December 1999 in Lausanne, Switzerland) is a Swiss professional racing driver and the daughter of Dietrich Anger. She made her Reject Motorsport debut for Plus One Racing Engineering in the 2016 F1 Rejects Development Series season.
Early career
After being told as a six-year old that her father used to be a racing driver, Daniela decided to follow in his footsteps. Due to motorsport being banned in her home country, Anger started racing in Germany, eventually finishing 5th in the tough German Junior Kart Championship in her debut year at the age of 13. Next year she improved by finishing 2nd in the overall standings, and continued on to her first single seater series, the French F4 Championship, where she finished 4th.
F1RDS/AutoReject 2.0
2016
Anger was surprised to be chosen as the driver of Plus One Racing Engineering seat in F1RDS. In fact, Scott Marsden was originally going to drive the car but moved up to IFRC as Brucie Kibbutz made a last-minute switch to F1RWRS. During the first weekend of the season it was evident that it would take a while for her to adapt to the F1RDS car with a 16th place finish in the first start, although her result then improved to 11th and just outside of the points in the second start. She would then score her debut points at the first race of the British round by finishing 7th after qualifying an impressive 3rd. In the second start she finished 12th. At Monza she finished 16th, a result which she repeated at the follow-up round in Austria. She scored more points in Turkey with an 8th in the first race, but retired on the last lap in the second start. The first start in France was his best race so far, as she finished 6th and scored the fastest lap of the race in the process, although she failed to replicate this performance in the second start and only managed 16th. Another points finish followed at Norisring where she finished 7th.
At Zandvoort she was well off the place and finished 24th and last, a result she then replicated in the first start at Oulton Park. She was then able to improve her form for the second start to grab more points with a 9th. Belgium turned out to be her best weekend so far, as she managed to finish on points in both races. Her points streak continued at Brno with another 9th, but in the second start she was the first retirement with a transmission failure. The last weekend of the season in Japan started with a 16th place finish, but in the second start she surprised everyone by scoring a win and fastest lap and incidentally deciding the title in favour of Anu Võsu, as her rival [Aimée Gauthier]] would've needed a win to overcome her in the drivers' standings.
2016
Anger was confirmed for another year at Plus One for the 2017 season, with the series being rebranded as AutoReject 2.0.
IFRC
Anger debuted in the 2016 IFRC season when Benoît Voeckler suddenly left Plus One's IFRC team and they had to resort to their F1RDS drivers for the Italian round before a more permanent solution was reached. While she managed a respectable 9th position in her semifinal heat through attrition, her inexperience in the far more powerful formula showed in the feature final where she spent most of the race in the back of the field before crashing into a tyre barrier, losing her front wing and then failing to come into the pits for repairs. She eventually finished in 22nd and last.
