Talk:Main Page
Hello,
Please feel free to ask any question, make any comment or anything else you feel that will aid the forum, but try and be civil. That should be a given across anywhere, really.
Also, try to finish off your posts with four "squiggles" (~~~~) which is beside the "1" key to show the user name and the time of the post. It makes everyone's lives easier.
Thanks, Jeremy (talk) 00:07, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Flags
Hello,
Just wanted to ask if I could have the flags for the following countries:
- Tropico
- Macau (for the Macau GP)
- Cyprus (Or wherever the Mediterranean GP used to be)
- Any others you can think of
I have all the other obvious flags (Canada, UK, France, etc.) but my computer is very slow. So be patient. -Jeremy
- I have uploaded a crapton of random flags, things like Somalia, Vatican City, Philippines, Kenya, Qatar, Andorra, Israel, Hungary, etc...I don't think there are any left over, if they are they will be extremely obscure ones that only appear once in the entire wiki. If anyone finds a flag redlink post it here please, many of the uploads were by discovery rather than knowing what needed uploaded. Stramala (talk) 23:56, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
To FMecha
Hello,
Could you somehow transfer over the ingenious message box to this wiki? That would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jeremy (talk) 00:41, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- FMecha's here! What message box you mean? FMecha (talk) 05:10, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Found it (through cache) but I can't make it to work. I tried this:
{| class="wikitable" style="float: right;" width="493px | {{{1}}} |} FMecha (talk) 05:37, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, looks like it doesn't work for me as well. Where did you get the template from? Jeremy (talk) 03:00, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- I basically opened a google cache of the old Wikkii-hosted main page and put it on a HTML to Wiki converter page. Template:Msgbox now exists, but it does not center. FMecha (talk) 06:59, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Driver Infoboxes
Hi chaps! One question, is there a driver infobox doing the rounds at the moment? I'm re-doing my driver profiles and it might be nice to present them with one. Cheers :) Ataxia (talk) 00:02, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- I guess there isn't one at the moment, as all templates were lost as well with the Wikkii crash. I honestly haven't put a lot of thought on drivers yet, as I've been busy creating the pages for my series. Unless someone else does it first, I might have a look at the infobox template tomorrow...Nuppiz (talk) 00:42, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
Website down again?
I recieve a 404 Error when trying to access the F1Rejects website - Pi3141 10:15, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Same here. Looks like the hosting service is being useless again... Nuppiz (talk) 10:22, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
And it's down again. I'm not surprised, considering the problems it had yesterday.Nuppiz (talk) 08:55, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, bit annoying because I wanted to check a few things...Ataxia (talk) 10:35, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
And it's down once more.Nuppiz (talk) 22:55, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- How much longer must we wait for Jaenoch to move the website to a server that doesn't suck balls? Stramala (talk) 23:11, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
HTML to wiki converter
Thanks to FMecha's hint, I found a handy online tool which allows you to convert HTML tables to wiki. It's not perfect as you still have to convert all flag icons and links manually, but should help a lot in salvaging cached content from the old wiki. You can find the tool here. Nuppiz (talk) 11:08, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Here's another one, which allows whole wiki pages to be converted, not just the tables. Nuppiz (talk) 11:08, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- They both don't work... unless if I'm doing something wrong... :/ Jeremy (talk) 16:10, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- You have to copy the HTML code, rather than what appears on the page :) Pasta maldonado (talk) 16:41, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- And where does one get that? I tried dumping the source code into it, and it didn't work... Jeremy (talk) 19:21, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Don't try copying the entire source code, but instead just the section starting from the opening paragraph of the page to the end of the actual page (usually the end of results tables, or page categories in some cases). The rest of the source code is some Wiki gibberish which the converters don't understand. Also, Notepad's Find and Replace function is essential to avoid the frustrating editing of the same data multiple times on the same page (for example, you can replace all instances of a certain flag with the current filename). I did so on the 2014 RoLFS season page - none of that was made from scratch, I simply converted the cached page and corrected all remaining errors with Notepad. Good Cache List
Here is some examples of caches I found on google:
- 2010 season
- 2011 season
- 2012 season
- 2013 season
- 2014 season
- The 2015 season cache is on the page itself
- F1RWRS regulations
- F2RWRS regulations
- F3RWRS Regulations
That should help, I think. Jeremy (talk) 15:41, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Also,
Here's a handy template that can be used to add season navigation to season pages. To use this template, simply type the following anywhere on a series season page:
{{Season Navigation|A|B|C|}} .
A= The main page of the series, e.g. Formula One Rejects World Race Series
B= The previous season to the page you're on. For example, if you were on the page 2014 F1RWRS season, B would be 2013 F1RWRS season.
C= The next season to the page you're on. Continuing with the F1RWRS example, if you were on the page 2014 F1RWRS season, C would be 2015 F1RWRS season.
Hope that helps!
(Note: You do not need to type the [[ ]] tages when referencing a page, the template will do that automatically) Pasta maldonado (talk) 16:24, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
Out of curiosity,
Who is the user "Stramala?" Jeremy (talk) 23:09, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- I'm quite sure it's Kostas22. Nuppiz (talk) 08:09, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah it is. I really wish I could change my forum username... Stramala (talk) 23:10, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- What do you want it changed to? I think I could arrange that. Jeremy (talk) 00:01, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I don't think I can, please look here if you want to change your username. Jeremy (talk) 00:05, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- I appreciate the effort there, Jeremy, but you missed the key word "forum" in his comment. 00:19, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Other fictional series
In my opinion, the Other Fictional Series section on the main page has become quite untidy. I suggest the following: Series on-hold (which weren't updated for several months, in my opinion Flaschenpost's series, the Lotus racing league, etc...) get their own page, like the defunct series. In case that the series continues, it is moved back to the main page.
The active ones could be restructured in the following way: 1) RWRS universe series (RDS, RoLFS, Indy Championship etc..) 2) Revival/alternate history series (GPM2 Chairman game, Pasta_maldonado's rFactor series, my own F1 series etc...) 3) One-make series based on real cars (LifeGP, ProstGP, Porsche 356B cup) 4) Other series that don't fit in any of the categories.
