The 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship is the third season of the FIA Formula 2 Championship (since its independence from F1 despite keeping its support series title.) Formula 2 is a motor racing championship for Formula 2 cars that is sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It is an open-wheel racing category that serves as the second tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category is scheduled to be run in support of the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
The following teams and drivers are under contract to compete in the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship. Race fans and critics are calling this the most unpredictable F2 season due to the variety of experience on the grid with many not having much, if any, Formula racing experience. Drivers in this championship come from F1, IndyCar and GT Racing whilst some have been in F2 for a considerable amount of time and are now considered "F2 veterans."
The addition of E-Spike and Andretti Autosport into the championship also remain a massive unknown.
The Belgian weekend in the championship was cancelled due to the death of Antoine Hubert a year earlier out of respect.

A new race weekend in Canada was added as the series entered its first fully independent season, technically still remaining a support series for F1 by hosting races/events at F1 tracks. An Endurance race was held at Marina Bay in Singapore due to the length of the track, the race is double the amount of laps meaning more strategy options and more track time, the event in Singapore is the only stand alone event of the season and has its points system, it is said to become the finale race of every F2 season from 2021 for at least 5 years.

The 2020 Monster Energy GT Endurance Cup Series is the 1st season and 1st championship of this series sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and the FIA, it started in Great Britain at the Silverstone Circuit to support the F2 weekend there with the championship round being held at a stand alone event in Miami, Florida at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The series is unique to many others because there are no real "teams" per say, instead the drivers have a contract with the manufacturer they wish to race with, all the other drivers that have the same manufacturer as them are considered "teammates"

Schedule
The cup series format for this season follows a format similar to that used in NASCAR with different kinds of race tracks and different race lengths as well, a track can bid for a maximum of two races per season however the second race there must be different in some way besides the title of the race (eg: one race is a day race, the other isn't and so on.) The regular season will be made up of 26 races (Some supporting F2 races with the series "European voyage" and some not.) with the top 16 drivers going through to a NASCAR style playoff system. Where the people eligible to win the championship must still face a full grid of 24 cars with the driver with the most points winning the championship.
The races themselves are split into 3 stages to allow for pit stops in between however drivers can still pit when racing this gives the series a strategical element. Winning stages grant drivers playoff points which can be used to gain access to the playoffs, Stage 3 is titled as the Race to the Podium as the end of Stage 3 marks the end of the race.
Rounds 1, 7, 8, 9 are the rounds that supported Formula 2 this season.
